The guiding image of Festival MiTo 2025 is a photograph by MYBOSSWAS, created in collaboration with Giorgio Battistelli. Battistelli’s intention was to encapsulate in a single image the visionary force and revolutionary spirit of the great innovators of music from the past, projecting them into the urgencies and complexity of the present time.
Giorgio Ferrero and Giorgio Battistelli conceived the idea of projecting, within the symbolic imagery of Il Quarto Stato by Pellizza da Volpedo, a slow and confident procession of visionary composers led by three music students selected through an open call for young musicians under 20.
Music is thus represented as a collective instrument of change, integration, stimulus, and struggle: an art form that goes beyond the boundaries of learned entertainment to become a vehicle for thought, awareness, and resilience.
Thanks to the solid legacy of the past and the impulses of modernity, new generations will also find in music tools for reflection and struggle, to actively spread, step by step, positive change in the contemporary world and in the near future.
New generations are also entrusted with a conscious use of new technologies in the service of human critical thinking. The photographic work was composed by simultaneously using tools from the past, such as medium-format photography, and those of the near future, such as artificial intelligence, allowing them to coexist organically within a single image, a portrait of new generations supported by the positive drive of myth and the dream of the past.
